This home of mine is oh so stuffy. Twas a humid time the night before, but nothing can help now, not even the breeze from the back door. Even if I wasn’t so hot, I still would be bothered. You see, there is only one man for me. My sweet, sweet Jettifer; to whom I owe my heart. A captain at trade, he leads his men on a parade across the open sea. Oh, how do I miss him when he goes on his voyages. Sailing along the open waves, leaving me be on our property. I didn’t marry him for the money, even though most girls would. A lonesome life for the captain’s wife. One of these days I’ll have the courage to ask him to come aboard and share an adventure.
It’s a safe town, plenty of jobs to go around. Crime waves hit London, but not our beloved seaside village. Staring at the moon is a wonderful pastime, especially when it’s full like it is tonight. I like to imagine that it’s a blind eye that once belonged to a lass long ago. She stared at the sun to confirm the day, an attempt to brighten her husband’s way. Her eye went blind and then it became the moon, forever searching for her lost love. What a unique way to go out of your mind. Not I, for the heat is making me pant like a dog.
I can’t sleep a wink. It’s not a curse, unless hell has risen. Perhaps a drink of wine from the cellar will do me fine. A good hope that some alcoholic nectar will calm my nerves. As I walk outside, I take a look down the path to see if my dear Jettifer has arrived yet. Sadly, he hasn’t. The wine will keep me company as it nurses my health in the cellar. Quite dark, but nothing a candle won’t fix. A half a dozen or so will scare the shadows away, simple as that. One wall is aligned with barrels. He always made sure I’m well stocked before he leaves. The tin cup is my middle man friend in my hobby of drinking. I wonder if Jettifer knows why my clothes seem tighter or why I feel so itchy?
A knock on the door and I fall to the floor. Stupid chair, grabbing me and all. I must greet my love immediately, I must! Tripping on the stairs, my drunken mind is unaware of the obstacles at hand. Should I tell him of the dog that bit the hand that fed him with a vicious snarl? No, no, no. My love awaits me. Why must I be so clumsy when I’m in a rush? “Jettifer!” I cry out with his back to me. He turns around, his face filling with shock and fear. “What’s wrong, my love? Concern in my voice because he’s backing into the wall the closer I get. His lips are moving fast as if trying to scramble for the right sentence to speaketh.
“You...you’ve got pretty…” He spluttered. A sly grin comes upon my face. A playful attitude which Jettifer didn’t seem to share.
“Oh, how so?” He swallowed a lump in his throat, sweating profusely. At least I’m not the only one who was burning up.
“You… y-you grew hair…?” SLAP! Instant rage possessed me as I swatted him off his feet, an instant knock out. His body limp as his back found the wall.
“How dare thee say such things to me!” I grabbed his arms and was ready to shake him till his head fell off, but then I noticed something quite peculiar. A glimpse of gray in the mirror I see out of the corner of my eye. I let go of my husband to look into the mirror. Surely it must’ve been a joke, but how could a prank be oh so clever? The mirror mimics my every move, and the face of a scared wolf stares right back at me. This couldn’t be true, werewolves were merely a myth to scare children into coming inside before the night shaded the sky. Now... now I was one? I mourned my injured Jettifer as I got down to cradle his head. I had accidentally knocked him out. Any words he had were to be unspoken temporarily. What have I done to deserve such a fate?
Then again, now that I think about it, this isn’t as bad as it seems. Licking the blood off his cheek, I bring him closer. This could actually be a blessing, a rebirth of our lives. Yes, we can finally have adventures together! He may have to give up being a captain, but at what cost, what cost I ask? A bargain, a steal, the million pound deal! It’ll take some getting used to, but it’ll be worth it. We’ll escape this place, and live happily ever after in the forests of the wild. I know Jettifer isn’t awake to give his consent, but alas, a wife knows her husband better than he keeps his vessel ship-shape. I did tell him on the day we met that I bite...
A bit of a romantic tragedy one might say. A captain's wife that goes insane once her fate has been revealed. Pressure was continuously building up from her husband being at sea and then she finally snapped when the pieces came together. I wonder if this tale was told among sailors right before they reached home again? :ponder:

What a story! Interesting narration; development, climax, and denouement were great, and the plot twist the best. You have good imagination, that for sure.
